ALL USERS MUST FOLLOW THESE GUIDELINES All users must be trained before using any instruments in this facility. The door to 231C or 229 must remain closed (but not locked) while any BSL2 work is being done. Keep your samples off the computer and instrument tables at ALL times. All users are responsible for removing any from the bench and cart areas, and disinfecting all work surfaces prior to and after completing work Please notify the Flow Cytometry Facility if there is a spill, splash, or glass breakage in this room. Staff will assist as is necessary. Notes on the environmental contamination are in the Flow Cytometry Safety Manual located in the main laboratory. Contact your supervisor immediately and seek treatment if you have become injured or exposed to a pathogen while working here. All sample-handling procedures must be done carefully to avoid generating aerosols. Use the Biological Safety Cabinet for pipetting and vortexing. The use of safety glasses, lab coat, and gloves are REQUIRED. Change gloves immediately if they become contaminated. Wash your hands thoroughly in the sink provided in this location after working in our lab. Please dispose of your waste materials properly as you have learned. Cell samples used, used biologically contaminated labware need to be carried in an approved container to your PI's lab for decontamination and disposal. Any used sharps from this area go into the biologically contaminated sharps disposal container here. All gloves used here go into the biohazard box. Samples containing hazardous chemicals (for example, propidium iodide) must be disposed of as hazardous waste. If you generate biologically contaminated waste, please return to your lab, and ask for pick up. Never bring any radioactive materials into any of our lab spaces. AFTER running samples, follow the cleaning guidelines for proper decontamination of the instrument.
