How do I pay using a C-FOP account number?
During checkout, please provide us with the account number you wish to use for payment. The C-F-O-P format is as follows: X-XXXXXX-XXXXXX-XXXXXX. There are 4 required sections separated by dashes. The first section is (C) for Chart, the second section is (F) for Fund, the third section is (O) for Organization, and the last section is for (P) for Program. Occasionally a 5th section, (A) for Activity, is needed.
C-FOP accounts are not charged immediately, but 2 or more weeks later, so please include the expiration date of your account in the payment form. Please note that this form will not allow you to enter grant accounts, or Fund (F) numbers starting with 4 or 5 (e.g. 1-400000-111111-222222). Grant accounts require more details, so please email us or use our contact form if you would like to charge this workshop to a grant account, including the contact information for the grant PI.
Why can’t I use a grant account in the sign up form?
Grant accounts which have explicit budgeting for workshops or training services, either from the original grant budget or through rebudgeting, can be billed. If this is the case, then please email us or use our contact form for instructions on how to sign up.
If you have not included our workshop as a line item and are unable to rebudget in time for registration, you can charge this indirectly to your grant account. You can pay by credit card; where possible we recommend using a department p-card. You can provide the receipt to your department for reimbursement via your grant account.
We can also provide cost estimates for future HPCBio workshops for budgeting purposes, please contact us if you need more detailed information.
What if I need to miss a day of the workshop?
Sessions are normally recorded (assuming no technical difficulties arise), with necessary materials and slides will be posted on a workshop webpage. So it is possible to make up the main workshop sessions asynchronously before the start of the next one.
When do ticket sales end?
We generally close registration just before midnight seven days prior to the workshop, but we recommend signing up sooner if you need to learn the prerequisites.
What are the prerequisites to take most workshops?
A beginner-level understanding of R and Linux/bash command line is required. In addition, knowledge of how to utilize IGB’s Biocluster or a SLURM scheduler is highly recommended. HPCBio instructors will not be responsible for catching attendees up if they do not acquire the minimum knowledge needed for this workshop. There are asynchronous materials and mini-workshops available to learn these prerequisites beforehand which will be emailed to you after registration.
Where will the workshop be held?
Details will be provided for the specific workshop. Remote workshop will be held remotely over Zoom.
Can you explain the workshop cost?
The true cost to run a workshop of this length is quite expensive, but thanks to the generosity of the Roy J. Carver Biotechnology Center and the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research, we have been able to offer our workshops at a subsidized rate.
How can I contact the organizer with any questions?
Please email us or use our contact form for any questions pertaining to training.
